Preparation for the cruise. Murmansk, Russia On the first day, participants prepare for the voyage. Upon arrival in Murmansk, you will be transferred to a hotel in the city center, from where you can explore the largest city located north of the Arctic Circle.
Boarding the Icebreaker "50 Years of Victory"
The next morning, participants begin their pre-departure preparations. A transfer will take you to the port, where you will step aboard the world's most powerful nuclear icebreaker — "50 Years of Victory." As evening approaches, the icebreaker sets sail on its polar voyage — toward extraordinary adventures!
Heading to the North Pole
You are now on board and making your way toward the "Top of the World." Polar experts will share fascinating insights into the climate, wildlife, and natural features of the Arctic. Right from the deck, you will witness the icebreaker cutting through centuries-old ice. The experience goes far beyond observation: weather permitting, helicopter excursions will be arranged, along with landings on ice fields and Arctic islands.
We've Reached the Top of the World!
As we approach our destination, the captain carefully maneuvers the icebreaker to position the vessel precisely at 90°N — the geographic location of the North Pole. Congratulations — we've made it!
To celebrate this milestone, passengers descend onto the ice. The whole world is literally at your feet! Here, at the "summit," all meridians converge. The highlight of the polar evening will be a real Arctic barbecue. Special satellite communication equipment will allow you to make a "call to a friend from the North Pole." The most daring participants can take a dip in the icy Arctic Ocean, then warm up by the fire. Every participant is guaranteed an extraordinary surge of joy and a lifetime of unforgettable memories!

Over these days, we explore the most remarkable region of the Arctic: the Franz Josef Land archipelago. An entire world of pack ice, volcanic mountains, towering icebergs, and untouched wilderness.
Expedition guides will share rich stories of the archipelago's past and present. Weather permitting, we will enter Tikhaya Bay, where vast colonies of polar seabirds await us. But the wildlife encounters don't end there: within the archipelago, we will encounter polar bears and Arctic walruses — whose natural curiosity will draw them right up to the side of our vessel!

Setting Course for Murmansk
The icebreaker turns south toward Murmansk. On the return journey, there is ample time to soak in the Arctic scenery, visit the library, relax at the bar, or enjoy a swim in the pool. On one of the final days, a farewell photo presentation will be held so that all participants can relive every breathtaking moment of the voyage. You are also invited to a special dinner with the captain.
Disembarkation
And so our journey comes to an end. During this cruise, we have done far more than simply visit the North Pole — our team has joined the ranks of a select few travelers who have seen the entire world from its very summit. After breakfast, we disembark, transfer to the airport, and carry with us countless stories and truly unique memories!

The primary purpose of expedition cruises is to visit remote and hard-to-reach destinations without sacrificing a reasonable level of comfort — to witness first-hand what most people can only see in travel documentaries. Expedition cruises can be ocean-based or river-based. The main goal is to make as many landings as possible on untouched shores with no infrastructure. For this reason, expedition cruises use small vessels capable of accessing areas that are completely off-limits to conventional cruise ships.
According to the International Maritime Organization of the United Nations, ocean cruising is the safest form of leisure travel in the world. All cruise vessels have undergone the most rigorous international certification. The crew regularly rehearses emergency procedures, and every ship carries a full emergency and rescue kit. The icebreaker is equipped with all necessary safety equipment and is attended by a professional Arctic expedition team.
Layering is the single most important principle in Arctic expeditions. It is better to wear several lighter garments than one very warm item — this allows you to adapt to changing temperatures easily.
- Base Layer — Merino wool or polypropylene thermal underwear suited to the region's temperature and your activity level.
- Mid Layer — Wool or fleece sweaters, long-sleeves, and turtlenecks. Mid-layers can be worn under your parka during landings and on board.
- Outer Layer — Wind- and waterproof parka and trousers. A parka can be single-layer (insulated with wind/water protection) or double-layer (a warm inner layer plus an outer wind/waterproof shell).
- Footwear & Accessories — Rubber boots (standard or insulated) are ideal for expeditions. Bring several pairs of gloves/mittens (1 lightweight, 1 warm waterproof pair), thermal socks, a warm hat, and a neck gaiter or balaclava.
Yes! The minimum age for this cruise is 6 years.
No particular level of physical fitness is required for expedition cruises. Anyone who can walk up and down the ship's gangway can participate in landings without difficulty. For those seeking a more active experience, longer hikes over varied terrain will be available. However, please note that you will be in a remote location where the nearest hospital may be thousands of kilometers away — if you have any chronic conditions, consult your physician before traveling.
Comfort is the guiding principle when choosing clothing on board. Attire is casual and informal. However, if you are traveling on luxury-class vessels or mega-yachts, we recommend a smart-casual style on board, with more elegant evening wear for special occasions such as the Captain's Cocktail, the Farewell Gala Dinner, or celebrations of significant milestones.
Each morning, the expedition leader announces the day's plan over the ship's intercom. During polar expeditions, changes to the program and itinerary occur daily, so adjustments may also be made throughout the day. The captain and expedition leader keep all guests informed of any changes via announcement. They will constantly monitor weather and ice conditions to maximize landing and Zodiac cruising opportunities.
The crew and expedition team make every effort to adhere to the planned route. However, it is important to understand that flexibility of itinerary is a defining characteristic of expedition programs — changes may occur due to weather, ice conditions, or other unforeseen circumstances. Modifications will only be made when they serve your interests, your safety, or compliance with maritime regulations. We guarantee that changes will only be made to improve your experience.
Shore landings are made using Zodiac inflatable boats, which can land on almost any type of shoreline. Our experienced crew will ensure safe boarding and disembarkation.
Satellite internet is available on board, but the quality is not comparable to standard broadband speeds. Coverage may be lost in certain geographic areas, especially in polar regions, or due to circumstances beyond our control. On mid-class expedition vessels, internet access may be provided for an additional fee. On research vessels also used for passenger expedition cruises, internet access may be entirely unavailable. Mobile network coverage will be unavailable in virtually all regions where our expeditions sail. Satellite calls can be made on board for an additional charge.
Yes — a doctor is a mandatory member of our expedition team. They provide medical care for both passengers and crew. Every vessel has a fully equipped clinic for addressing non-critical health issues.
